Mike Runs the Table While Keith Settles for Bragging Rights in One Room
Let's not bury the lede: Mike is up 13-1 in the belt race with 71 points still hanging out there, and after a week where he went 10-3 and dropped 2,119.64 total points to Keith's 6-7 and 1,636.66, the gap feels less like a deficit and more like a geological formation. Keith picked up his lone point this week and it came in exactly the fashion you'd expect β pure stubbornness.
Because here's the twist: when it actually mattered head-to-head, Keith hung 200.10 on Mike's 151.20 in Midnight Marauders and won the lone direct meeting of the week. Cold comfort, considering Mike still leads that league standings-wise 4-1 to 3-2, but a win is a win, and Keith will take whatever he can get these days. Elsewhere Keith remains perfect in AFC at 5-0 and sits first overall there β the one shining trophy case in an otherwise rough stretch.
Everywhere else, it was the Mike show. He posted the week's best team, 229.69 in the Annual East/West Collegiate Bowl, where he's also undefeated at 10-0. Jaylen Warren torched for 43.30 points in that Midnight Marauders loss, a case of winning the box score and losing the game. Meanwhile Keith's Guillotine squad (Swordz) delivered a goose egg β 0.00 points, which is less a lineup than a cry for help.
Mike wasn't flawless, mind you. He left 58.97 points stranded on his Survival of the Fittest bench, including a 36.5-point Jameis Winston outing while Tyler Shough (1.2) got the start β the kind of decision that ages like milk. He also stayed busy at the trade deck in If You Ain't First, You're Lastβ’οΈ, picking up Emanuel Wilson, Travis Kelce, and Sam Howell, while someone out there bid $33 on Dameon Pierce like it was 2017 again.
Thirteen leagues, seventy-one points still in play, and a scoreboard that reads 13-1 β Keith needs more than pride next week, he needs a miracle.
Mike Piles Up 1,995 Points, Stretches Belt Lead to Double Digits
The belt race is no longer a race. Mike dropped 1,995.92 points and went 9-4 across the board this week, pushing his season lead to 12-2 over Keith, who limped to 1,573.94 and a 6-7 mark. With 71 belt points still hanging out there across all 13 leagues, there's time for a comeback β but right now Keith's trying to climb out of a hole with a plastic spoon.
Keith did manage the single best team score of the week, 241.07 in the Annual East/West Collegiate Bowl, proof he can still go nuclear when the mood strikes. Then, in the same seven days, he posted a 0.00 in Guillotine (Swordz) β a number so flat it belongs on a hospital monitor. Somewhere between those two performances is a man who genuinely cannot decide which version of himself is showing up.
Mike's depth is the real story: 8-0 and running away with the Collegiate Bowl (where CeeDee Lamb went off for 50.15 on his way to that title lead), 4-0 in Midnight Marauders, 6-2 in If You Ain't First, and comfortably ahead in NFC and the Geonosian Arena. Keith's lone strongholds are an undefeated 4-0 in AFC and a 5-3 edge in the Sarlacc Pit dynasty β small flags planted on otherwise enemy territory.
Mike wasn't flawless, though β he left 68.47 points on his bench in If You Ain't First, including the baffling choice of AJ Barner (3.0) over Jameis Winston (24.3), a decision that should come with a warning label. Business was also brisk on the trade front, with a Keenum-Lock-Lloyd swap between the two rivals in Dynasty Cartel and Mike working a deal with Run & Shoot in AFC, while someone out there paid $22 in FAAB for Devin Neal like it was a bargain.
Next week: Keith needs more 241-point nights and a lot fewer 0.00 disasters if he wants this belt race to feel like a race again.
Mike Buries Keith in Week 3, Leads Belt Race 12-2
The numbers are almost rude at this point. Mike dropped 2,071.34 points and went 10-3 across the board this week, while Keith managed a pedestrian 1,713.86 and 9-4. That gap alone tells you why the belt race sits at 12-2 in Mike's favor, with 71 points still up for grabs across all 13 leagues. Keith needs a turnaround, and he needs it soon.
The head-to-head in NFC was a preview of the whole week β Mike's 153.28 walked right past Keith's 123.13. Mike also fielded the week's best team, a ridiculous 217.41 in the Annual East/West Collegiate Bowl, anchored by Jahmyr Gibbs going full video-game mode with 43.90 points in The Geonosian Arena. Keith, meanwhile, posted the week's worst team at 80.90 in 11 Personnel* β the kind of score that gets circled in red ink.
But the real crime scene is Keith's bench in The Sarlacc Pit Dynasty. He left 49.11 points sitting at home, and yes, that includes Aaron Rodgers dropping 29.7 while Kyle Pitts got the start and mustered 2.3. That's not a lineup decision, that's a cry for help.
Not all bad news for Keith β he's actually banking belt points in AFC (3-0) and 11 Personnel* (2-1), proof he still remembers how to win football games. Everywhere else, though, Mike's fingerprints are on the scoreboard: leading Midnight Marauders outright, running 5-1 in If You Ain't First You're Lastβ’οΈ, and picking up stray points in guillotine formats where he hasn't even locked anything yet. Oh, and someone dropped $10 on Emanuel Wilson in Chopped And Screwed β bold money for a league nobody's separated in yet.
Next week: Keith needs more than a AFC highlight reel β he needs a full-league awakening before this belt gets engraved early.
Mike Blows the Doors Off, Belt Race Now 8-2 and Getting Ugly
Let's start with the head-to-head, because Mike made sure everyone saw it. In the Annual East/West Collegiate Bowl, Mike dropped a 243.16 right on Keith's head β his best score of the entire week β while Keith managed only 218.61 and watched Mike take sole possession of first place at 4-0. That single result was worth two belt points by itself, and it set the tone for a week where Mike outscored Keith across the board, 1878.23 to 1752.88, and out-won him 9-4 to 7-6.
Of course, fantasy football has a sense of humor. The same Mike who posted the week's best team also posted its worst β a face-plant 36.50 in 11 Personnel*. Add in a bench regret for the ages: Matthew Stafford scored 35.5 pretending to be furniture on Mike's bench while Puka Nacua started and contributed a goose egg. Keith, for what it's worth, got a monster 50.00 out of Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the Collegiate Bowl β and still lost that matchup. Fantasy justice remains undefeated in its refusal to make sense.
Zoom out to the standings and the picture is grim for Keith: Mike is currently the belt-favorite in Collegiate Bowl, Dynasty Cartel, If You Ain't First You're Last, Midnight Marauders, NFC, The CHAMPIONS League, The Geonosian Arena, and The Sarlacc Pit. Keith's holding the line in the AFC (2-0, 3rd) and 11 Personnel* (1-1, but ahead on points), which is thin gruel against that guest list. The two also swapped Chuba Hubbard, Joshua Palmer, Jalen Nailor, Bucky Irving, Gunnar Helm and Elijah Arroyo in an 11 Personnel* trade β presumably in the spirit of friendly competition, though nothing in this rivalry is truly friendly anymore.
The belt score now sits Mike 8, Keith 2, with 75 points still hanging out there across 13 leagues β plenty of runway for a Keith rally, or for Mike to keep piling on. Someone also fired an $8 FAAB bullet at Demarcus Robinson in Dynasty Cartel, proof that even in a blowout week, waiver-wire chess never stops.
Next week: Keith needs a signature win somewhere before this turns from a rivalry into a coronation.
Mike Grabs Early Stranglehold on the Belt With 8-2 Week 1
Well, that escalated quickly. Mike opened the season by winning belt points in seven of the nine decided leagues, banking an 8-2 lead before Keith even got his coffee. Keith actually out-won Mike head-to-head across the board Sunday, 10-3 to 9-4, and still got outscored on the only column that matters for bragging rights. Fantasy football, everybody.
The signature moment came in The CHAMPIONS League, where Mike's 150.56 walked right past Keith's 123.96 in a head-to-head that also drops Keith to 0-2 and 10th place there. Add in belt-point losses in Dynasty Cartel, Midnight Marauders, the Sarlacc Pit, the Geonosian Arena, 11 Personnel, and the Collegiate Bowl, and Mike is stacking up hardware everywhere except the AFC and NFC leagues, where Keith's 1-0 starts kept the scoreboard from being a total rout.
The eye test wasn't kind to Keith either. Mike's 236.45 in If You Ain't First, You're Last led all scorers this week, while Keith's 72.30 in 11 Personnel was the worst team on the slate β a 164-point gap between Keith's best and worst weeks that suggests some serious inconsistency to iron out. Keith did get one signature performance in the win column: Bryce Young dropped 43.94 for him in Survival of the Fittest, proof that not everything went sideways.
Mike, don't celebrate too hard β you left 47.74 points on your own bench in the Geonosian Arena, benching Jordan Love's 25.5 in favor of Tony Pollard's 4.9. That's not a typo, that's a decision, and it's the kind of thing that keeps a 6-point lead from becoming a 12-point laugher.
With 75 belt points still up for grabs across 13 leagues, this is nowhere near over β but Mike's got the early swagger and Keith's got some bench-management film to study before Week 2.
